I’ve been feeling bleh about this blog. I love to cook, I love to share what I cook, but I also have an artsy side I’d like to share that just doesn’t feel right here. I struggle with writing so I wanted a place where the pictures hold all of the weight. I’m not shutting this blog down, in fact I have a vegan waffle recipe coming up shortly. I’d be honored if you would come by my new space, doubly honored if you added it to your reader :)

A couple of drawings as of recent. The first one is Mona’s (Kirida’s) winning drawing from last months Meatballer post…

the lighting is kind of crappy, photographing art IS an art…sigh
and here is another one that I am not sure who will get, but someone will because it feels to weird to keep…does that make any sense?

Wow, who knew it would take my son dancing to get you all to comment. That says to me people like a little “reality blogging” better than boring old food blogging. So anyway, here it is, the giveaway post I promised you all. I am not entirely decided on the prize yet, it might have to be winner specific. I have a bonus to throw at you…see these?

I don’t know what they are and it is driving me insane, all my Googleing has led me no where. First person to correctly identify these gets a special little prize, a drawing by moi, if you don’t like my art well then maybe just keep it to yourself so I can go on pretending. So go ahead and leave a comment and on the last day of this NoBlo month I will randomly select a winner for the undisclosed prize. Good Luck, and look for some yum recipes coming up!
*I don’t care who enters, if I know you IRL you better enter too dammit!
** almost forgot, I’ll only count you once

I thought I would share a drawing I did over the last 2 days. Seems like every time I sit down to make something lately, flowers fill my head. That’s fine because it means I am likely out of my animal phase which I was quite tired of. Lucky for you this has no testicle-ness like my embroidered flower attempt (not even going to link to that entry).

The color is a bit off, imagine it much more crisp and vibrant. Here are a couple close-ups…

I use Micron pens and Berol Prismacolor pencils. If anyone knows of a better colored pencil I would gladly try it. I have been using Primacolors for as long as I can remember, I love their softness and vividness, but you just never know if there is something better out there. Tell me please, do you make things? What do you make? Did you make things once upon a time?

I have a couple of firsts to share with you. You know how I have been making my own pizza lately (which I can’t believe I haven’t been doing this all along, so easy and WAY better), well the other night I got my first pizza bubble! I love pizza’s with crust bubbles, so this brought a single tear to my eye.
behold

now for the money shot!

look at that lift people! That is some serious bubble. I think the trick was turning the heat up, I have been turning the heat up a bit with each new pizza I make, and the results improve each time. This one was made at 550˚F, my oven only goes to 575˚F so I will probably crank it next time and see what happens. I preheat the pizza stone too which adds some heat. Now that I think about it maybe the bubble had something to do with the flour, I have been increasing the whole wheat flour content each time too, hmm.
…………….
In other firsts, I have been daydreaming about hand embroidery for months now and finally pulled my shit together and acquired supplies to do so. Here are the results:

I clearly need to hone in some sort of technique, but I had fun doing it. It probably wouldn’t hurt to get some ‘clean’ towels to embroider too. I look forward to making some more strange flowers…..oh, you didn’t know it was a flower? sigh.
Edited to add:
I SWEAR I did not intend this flower to be all testicle-y!
…………
On my Flickr! account I keep much of it private because I am WAY protective of my kids (that would be why you don’t see many photo’s of them here). I wanted to extend an invite to be added as one of my contacts if you would like. Just email me a request with your user name and I will add you after a background check, just joshing!
