We got out of the house today and hit South 47 Farm, it was fabulous and full of good farm smells. We went mostly for the raspberries.
Owen ate his weight in berries, easily. The raspberries apparently gave him super powers too
Some goats tried to befriend us only to steal our berries.
And berries!
better than store bought berries hands down. So we had a berrylicious day, raspberry pancakes for dinner and I made blueberry corn muffins again, this time with fresh blueberries.
I prefer big breakfasts for dinner. Eating a big breakfast makes me feel frumpy, sluggish and like I am recovering from a hangover. Give me some pancakes, toast and FAKE sausage for dinner and I’ll ask for seconds. I do eat eggs on occasion, more often I eat a tofu scramble, but I have issues with eggs on the whole. Something about eating a chicken period just rubs me the wrong way, understandable, right? I bought an illegal amount of strawberries recently and thought one way to use a bunch up would be pancakes…
Behold! Pure maple syrup! and NO! I don’t hull my damn strawberries, what a waste of berry!
The beauty of breakfast foods is that they all go good together, maple syrup on your sausage? no problem, oh look! egg got on my pancake, no biggie!
I don’t know what my deal is with taking photo’s half way through eating lately, hopefully that isn’t making anyone gag. Is it similar to eating with your mouth open? I hope not, not much worse than bad table/virtual food-ery manners.
I was eating my fake turkey (no snickering) sandwich yesterday for lunch and as always I put a layer of potato chips in it. I have done this for so long I don’t find it weird, but I was thinking that maybe it is weird because deli’s don’t offer this service. Do you put potato chips in your sandwich?
Do I love potato chips? YES! What is there not to love?
I made Corkscrew pasta, artichoke pesto, yellow bell pepper and fresh Parmesan, last night…
My battery is dying on my flash, hence the lame photo. Looks pretty dull compared to how it looked with my eyes. It was WAY easy and yummy. Go! make it yourself!
Blue corn taco shells rule! Yellow corn shells just can’t compare.
I decided to photograph this after eating half of it, sorry about that. I made beef tacos for Pete and I had refried beans in mine…mmmm. Only thing missing was a nice Pacifico beer. I had a fresh jalapeno I forgot to chop for the side too, I hate that and it ALWAYS happens to me. I get some delicious accompaniment for a meal and I forget it and then it rots. I definitely need a new memory or a better system. I also made some guacamole for Pete and Owen since I won’t touch the stuff. Somehow I make it taste good without trying it though.
*shiver* I used to eat avocados straight with a spoon. When I was a teenager I decided to scarf 2 whole avocado’s and then venture out into a 150˚F muggy Kansas City day and quickly hucked avocado all over our back patio. That was the end of my love affair with all things avocado. Cool Ranch Dorritos are another written off food, but I’ll save that for another post. Instead I will segue into Owen’s latest adventure. Atticus finally did the inevitable, he attacked Owen. To Atticus’s defense it really wasn’t his fault. Owen more or less tackled him. Unfortunately with Atticus it is all or nothing though.
He did this to Owen’s arm
*picture removed*
That actually looks a lot better too. What isn’t shown are the multiple scratches all over his little body too. It took just about everything I had to not snap Atticus’s neck right then and there, but I kept my cool and just skooted him out of the room, swept Owen up, started to flush the bite wound and called the Dr. Now Owen is on antibiotics. I didn’t want to take any chances because when Pete got bitten by this same cat, his hand swelled up and got grossly infected. The question is, why do we keep this cat? I have no idea. You can read about him here too, this behavior is nothing new.
